Paul Thomas

My name is Paul Thomas and I am from Newark, New Jersey. I attended East Orange Campus High school. I am currently a senior majoring in computer science at The College of New Jersey.

My major in computer science at The College of New Jersey was greatly influenced by my aunt who is a computer technician at AT&T. I grew up watching how technology was growing and how informational and helpful it was and wanted to be part of that field some day. I am looking forward to working in the field of video game designing some time after graduate school. Besides my interest in computers, I am also the Vice President of my fraternity of Phi Beta Sigma. With all the community service and work that comes along with the fraternity life, I felt that and school was enough to keep me active while attending college.

Receiving the Harcourt Scholarship 4 years ago has not only helped me financially but mentally as well. Knowing that I was rewarded something few people receive helped me to appreciate my position and to always strive hard especially when you are rewarded for your success. Financially, I had no clue on how I would pay for college but the Harcourt Scholarship made those worries vanish. I have only been able to thank Ms. Manetas for giving me an opportunity since she was my advisor, but I would like to thank everyone who has been apart of the Harcourt staff for everything that they have done for me. I am a much wiser and humble person because of it.
